New laptop case

Since getting my new work laptop (13 inch MacBook Pro, if you must know), I have been worried about scratching it travelling to and from work. Enter some pretty dark grey felt, some fabric from the Captain, and I have a slightly wonky but well-loved travelling companion.

Encyclopedia of Sewing and Fabric Crafts

As a post-PhD treat, I bought myself Martha's newest book - and I have to say, it's amazing. Not only does it outline everything you need to start sewing, but it gives detailed information on types of fabric, stitches and techniques that I had never dared entertain.
My favourite part of the book is the endless array of patterns (included on a CD) and projects - here are just some (blurry) photos of some toy rabbits, a pillowcase bag and an organiser that got me totally hooked. I have been poring over the book again and again - overcome with inspiration!

I am a self-taught (from the internet) sewer, and I would thoroughly recommend this as an inspirational and educational resource. Love it!

Akanbe!

When I was in Lorne last weekend, I found this incredible basket which turns into a BLANKET! I am still getting over it, to be honest. Picnic basket, craft organiser, baby things - the list of uses could be endless, really. I didn't end up buying it, but I have been thinking of it for a while.

'Akanbe' or あかんべ is actually a Japanese facial gesture, where you pull one eye down while you stick out your tongue, so this little bag is even cuter.

New Felt Bow Headbands

I've had a few days off recently while my supervisors read the full draft of my thesis. I may or may not have been a little anxious to hear back from them, so read a lot and made a lot in the meantime!

These headbands are fun to add a little pop to your outfit: I love how oversized they look.

More Brooch-making

I can't believe I forgot to show you these little beauties! I think I am refining my bird design, especially, and am quite pleased with it.

I've been making less of late as I try to keep up with lots of etsy orders, finish my, ahem, thesis, and generally be human. But I have a few things in the wings that I look forward to sharing soon.

Also, if you look closely into the unnecessary-but-colourful vase, you'll see me and my camera on one side and literally hundreds of books in bookcases on the other. Accidental but not entirely displeasing, n'est-ce pas?!

Felt Bird Brooch

Another little brooch I have made from my new-found love of felt. I am really loving this brooch-making fad! Available here.

Don't forget to leave me a message on my giveaway post before next Thursday!
