Office Space Pretties

Yes, I know. I'm not an artist. Or a stylist or in any creative industry. But what I wouldn't give for an arty office like this one. I'm sure the tech company I work at would get behind this, right?!

Space Invaders

Love this card. Just brilliant. Doesn't seem that long ago since I played this on a computer that took up half my desk (its black screen could display white on black or green on black - oh the possibilities!), but looking at my technology now, it seems an age.

Shop Update

Yes, yes, it's been a while, but I've finally updated le shop with some more lovely map butterflies. These little guys are very fragile but look kind of awesome on a big wall. One day I'll get the light right in our study to show you how cute they look, but for now, you can admire a slightly blurry photo right here.

Send More Mail

Have you seen this lovely blog called Send More Mail? It has made me want to trawl through and find all my old stamps and buy more and, perhaps intuitively, send more mail. Send letters, my blogging friends! Buy old fashioned stamps and stick them to paper and post away!

Ephemera Packs - back in the shop!

After a very long hiatus, I've opened up my little Etsy shop. Yes, I know it's been months and months, but here they are: colour-coded backs of stationery, cards, papers, stickers, stamps - these are great if you like writing mail or decorating presents or little cards and labels. They are a paper-lover's dream. (And they ship free in Australia!)

Myths and Stamps

I grew up reading Greek and Roman myths, and haven't stopped being an ancient history nerd. I also used to collect stamps as a young girl, and my 10 year old self would have freaked out at these magnificent, modern creations. Ok, I'm probably still freaking out.

Stationery Houses

Completely adorable stationery organisers in the form of little houses! I love how pens fit in the chimneys.

Le Petit Prince Moleskines

The eagle-eyed Alice directed me to these delightful new Moleskines which feature the beautiful Petit Prince character. As I said to Alice in my email: "Annnnnd purchased".

Christmas Giveaway!

Given that it's Christmas, I thought a little giveaway wouldn't go astray. I'm giving away 5 little packs of papers, beads, cards, and stickers - each is small, but comes with fun trinkets for decorating presents, making cards and turning into new projects.

To enter, just leave a comment on this post, saying why you'd like to win. I'm only accepting Australian entries this time - and I'll post the winners on Friday, 17th December, 2010.

Christmas is coming

I have been so flat out since coming back and the last thing I really have time to be doing is making Christmas decorations, but it's post like these that make me want to huddle by a fire (I know, southern hemisphere fail) and craft garlands. Extreme? Maybe...

A Gust of Wind

This beautiful installation is called A Gust of Wind and is by Paul Cocksedge. Each piece is a curved, curled piece of Corian and is suspended to look like paper. Just love this.

Vintage Dutch Picture Book Covers

BibliOdyssey has done it again! The colours, typography and design of these Dutch book covers are frighteningly contemporary.

Mapping Old Ireland

The lovely Ali sent me this link to some maps of old Ireland, and I think they are superb.

By the way (and this doesn't have too much to do with maps), I just wanted to say thank you to my friends who read this. I've been in the last stages of writing my thesis for some months now, with a deadline that keeps extending. You have understood my canceling dinner dates and generally being quite crazy, and you still send little treats my way and letters/emails/calls of encouragement. It means the world (geddit?) to me, and I couldn't do it without you. xxx

Papercraft Friday 11: Laura Cahill

Laura Cahill makes vases from books - the intricacy of the cutting and the way the pages splay out is so amazing - like hundreds of spines or shells. In fact, some of them even look like gourds, or melons from paper trees.

Papercraft Friday 10: Cara Barer

I've been a bit remiss on my Papercraft Friday posts, but Cara Barer's stunning photography is enough to make anyone jump into action.
These books look like organic creatures, caught in space or deep water: so still and yet really dynamic, too.

Paul Rand Design

Paul Rand (1914-1996) was an amazing artist and designer, and I love his use of bold colours and simple design.
These just pop out with such beautiful patterns.

Cup and Saucer Embroidery

A Print a Day has put up a lovely embroidery/crafty pattern of cups and saucers. Go on over and have a look - she has a PDF download available. So pretty!

Happy weekend, lovelies - I'll be back Monday after two baby showers, a welcome home party, a girls' dinner, some teaching and hopefully some quiet time reading on the couch. xx
