Shop Update

Yes, yes, it's been a while, but I've finally updated le shop with some more lovely map butterflies. These little guys are very fragile but look kind of awesome on a big wall. One day I'll get the light right in our study to show you how cute they look, but for now, you can admire a slightly blurry photo right here.

Ephemera Packs - back in the shop!

After a very long hiatus, I've opened up my little Etsy shop. Yes, I know it's been months and months, but here they are: colour-coded backs of stationery, cards, papers, stickers, stamps - these are great if you like writing mail or decorating presents or little cards and labels. They are a paper-lover's dream. (And they ship free in Australia!)

Delicate Crochet

Despite my inability to crochet, I have a penchant for rocks in crochet jackets. They look so cosy and warm to me, but I'm sure that has a lot more to do with my own wish to personify inanimate objects that anything else. Either way, these images made by Resurrection Fern are pretty outstanding.

Space Quilts

After posting about map quilts, you would think I couldn't find more spatial quilts, right? Well, how about space-ial* quilts? Jimmy McBride is one mean quilter, and these bad boys, with names like 'Phobos' (one of the moons of Mars) are phenomenal.
Jimmy sells them at his etsy store, and despite being expensive, are entirely worth it, given the time, intricacy and unique designs. And dare I say, they're out of this world?**

*Sorry, couldn't resist a bad pun.

Finished Papercuts

Remember my papercuts? I finally finished them, and they're sitting framed on my dressing table. I loved cutting these, but don't think I have the patience to take this up as a hobby!

Thanks Em, for such a lovely present. xx

Papercuts

When the going has been tough with my thesis of late, I have had small little projects sitting by, waiting for me to spend ten minutes or so with them to give my brain a break.

One of these projects has been completing some of Elsa Mora's papercuts that my sister Em gave me for my birthday. I am very excited (read: impatient) for them all to be finished and hung in a frame - I'll keep you posted as to how they go!

Updated Map Notebooks

I have updated the map notebooks I'm selling in my shop. I was thinking late at night while trying to get to sleep, that I'd love a notebook which I could add and subtract pages to when I felt like it.

Enter these miracle file fasteners which hold the pages tight when you need them, yet can open up to allow more pages when you need them, too. Genius!

Etsy Treasury Again

Made another Etsy treasury - hurrah!

Etsy Giveaway: Revealed!

Butterflies getting ready to fly away to new owners.

After a delightful response to my giveaway, I used a random number generator and the winner is:

LPC who said: "Congratulations Kate. You know I think your stuff is super-cute. I agree, especially the map work."

Thank you LPC! Hurrah!

Please get in touch with me on etsy with what you'd like to order and I shall post it out to you!

I should say here that I had a number of entries who found me via a website which trawls the internet for giveaways from small time bloggers and Etsy store owners like myself. Without sounding too grouchy about it, (I know, it's free publicity and traffic to my site), I was unimpressed when people would write entries about how much they loved my shop and have read my blog for ages - when I can see that they just found it a minute ago and went straight to the giveaway post! I guess I don't mind them entering, but don't be disingenuous about it!! Do you have any thoughts on the subject, dear readers?

Love You Big in Spanish Vogue Kids!

Yes, I know I've been keeping news from you! My copy of Vogue Spain Kids arrived yesterday, and sure enough my pretty butterflies made it onto page 83 on a page about blogs and sustainable consumption. Super exciting stuff!

Unfortunately, they didn't include my shop page or blog (*sigh*), but instead included the blog of one of my lovely customers, who custom ordered some butterflies for her wedding! Ah well, thems the breaks, I guess. (I also notice that they did the same for all the other products on the page. Odd marketing move, but I like the playing detective-inference.)

Please excuse the slightly fuzzy photograph - I still don't have a scanner... (I just refuse to believe that they're necessary!!)

Etsy Anniversary and Giveaway!

Today marks two years since I opened my little etsy shop - and it has been such an adventure. I count myself lucky to have met so many lovely customers and such interesting, crafty folk.

I also have many more plans (post-thesis!) to revamp and add new goodies, so stay tuned. And I have some more exciting news to share about the shop in the coming weeks, too...

In the meantime, leave a comment on this post, and I'll enter your names in a draw to win a $20 (USD) voucher to the shop! (I'll draw it next Friday 9th October at 9am Sydney-time).

New Felt Bow Headbands

I've had a few days off recently while my supervisors read the full draft of my thesis. I may or may not have been a little anxious to hear back from them, so read a lot and made a lot in the meantime!

These headbands are fun to add a little pop to your outfit: I love how oversized they look.

Vanilla Week Diary

When I see a good diary, I buy it. Even though I know I'm months away from being able to use it! This one is particularly cute from Korean brand Monopoly. If Ebony designed a diary, I imagine it might look something like this: whimsical, pretty and oh so cute. Roll on 2010!

Very excited about these! New packs of colour in the shop right now - so much fun!
There is free shipping within Australia, so hop to it if you feel like a little pack of inspiration in your favourite colour.
Each pack is different, but contains everything you see with even more in the pack - beads, buttons, fabric scraps, papers, postcards, stickers, stamps, vintage book parts - lots of yummies!

Blanca Gómez

I've always had a soft spot for Blanca Gómez and these prints are a selection of my favourites.
There's something so beautiful about how simple the images are - small people and bright colours which make for happy, happy times.
I love this set of four - the raindrops! The lights/bunting! Her hat!
You can find Blanca here and here.
Have a lovely weekend (can't believe they come around so quickly!) I am going to be busy working, writing, seeing some friends, and celebrating my Dad's birthday tonight. Whew! Hoping to also see Ponyo this weekend, but we'll see how the writing goes, first...

Crafty Weekend

A very busy weekend for me - so much crafting! I was actually really tired, and had some teaching and work to do, so crafty respite was very much appreciated.

These maps books (in progress) are for an etsy custom order - I just loved the colours of them all lined up together.
