Film Posters: Black Swan

These film posters for the film Black Swan are by London-based La Boca, and are so striking. I love the way they seem to combine Communist-style red, white and black iconography with the bird image - so arresting.

Keith Loutit: Bathtub IV

This video is by Keith Loutit and is an example of time-lapse, tilt-shift photography: all those little miniature-looking people are real people! Just love it (And the very hum-able song is by the fabulous Megan Washington).

Glow Stick Animation

This is so beautiful. The animation (yes, animation!) technique involves a team of animators "painting in the air with glow sticks, frame after frame to create entire sequences of animation, usually taking a whole night to shoot".

Mind blowingly beautiful.

Autumn Story Chalkboard Animation

Well this makes my heart race a little faster. A most whimsical and compelling chalkboard animation illustrated by Lucinda Schreiber and co-directed by Yanni Kronenberg. The hauntingly lovely music is from the Firekites' album 'The Bowery' and is called 'Autumn Story'.

One of my favourite podcasts, Radiolab, recently featured this beautiful short film about words, noise and nature. I know, I've been blogging a lot about short films lately - I don't know why - but this one's a keeper. I should warn you - this isn't 100% worksafe (a split second is a bit risque), so please be careful when and where you play it.

It's (Not That) Complicated

OK, so I watched It's Complicated the other night, and while it wasn't the Best Movie Ever, it was styled super well. Check out the beautiful kitchen and garden. Not really my style - I could never live with that much beige - but it was so pretty and practical-looking. The only irritating part was that part of the film focussed on Meryl Streep wanting to 'build the kitchen she's always wanted' - whaaa?!

Beached Az: Pelican

It's been a while since I wrote about Beached Az - the very clever mini animation series by some of my close friends. This episode, with a flamboyant and fickle pelican, is one of my all-time favourites.
