Paper Sculpture: Peter Callesen
These are mind-blowingly beautiful paper sculptures - that skeleton? Incroyable. They are all made by Peter Callesen - check out the rest of his work, it's just beautiful.

Film Posters: Black Swan
These film posters for the film Black Swan are by London-based La Boca, and are so striking. I love the way they seem to combine Communist-style red, white and black iconography with the bird image - so arresting.

Sofa Tray
I have been really trying to track one of these down: anyone have any ideas? This one is from etsy, and they're not selling them anymore. I just adore the idea, and we're in need of one for our couch. Or any DIY tips?!

Owl Calendar
I know, another trend animal. The owl. But my friends, I loved owls long before Harry Potter and before they were hungover. My love stemmed from two wonderful and unique facts: owls can turn their heads around 360 degrees (don't correct me on that if I'm wrong. I enjoy the myth) and that their collective noun in 'parliament'. Awesome.
So if you like owls like I do, you might like to check out this delightful, customisable owl calendar. Incredibly cool.

Endorsements Dec 2010
Every month, my book club follows the Slate Culture Gabfest model, and endorses a cultural recommendation. We thought it would be fun to share them on the blog, so here goes!
The recommedations this month are:
The AV Club for excellent TV reviews.
Using Picasa for uploading photos.
Neil Perry's flourless and almond-meal-free chocolate cake.
D. H. Lawrence's novel, Lady Chatterley's Lover.
The Chrome Web Store (especially the Grooveshark and New York Times apps which let you stream music and see the newspaper).
Henry James's Portrait of a Lady.

Christmas Giveaway!
Given that it's Christmas, I thought a little giveaway wouldn't go astray. I'm giving away 5 little packs of papers, beads, cards, and stickers - each is small, but comes with fun trinkets for decorating presents, making cards and turning into new projects.
To enter, just leave a comment on this post, saying why you'd like to win. I'm only accepting Australian entries this time - and I'll post the winners on Friday, 17th December, 2010.

Spacey Silver
Could this be the perfect nail polish for summer? It's so metallic-y and shiny, I wonder whether I would just look at my nails all day. Which would be weird. And kind of awesome.

Oh deer
Yep, I get it. Deers have been done to death recently, but these Matryoshka-style deers are just delightful .
Cookies and Cream
I don't drink coffee, but this little hidey hole and a cup of tea? Yes please!

Switch Apartment
This extraordinary apartment makes me gasp. As someone who has lived in a very small studio before, and who has also spent many years working from home, the idea you could delineate the two areas so well is drool-worthy. Yes, I work in an office now, but this haunts my dreams still!

Double Love: One Chair
It could be that I'm feeling all loved up after getting married, but this chair by Markus Krauss strikes me as the most perfect house companion. One or two people can chat, read and cuddle (the latter is harder by yourself, I guess) and it just looks perfect. This chair would be such a lovely addition to our apartment. If it could fit a cuddling rocking chair...

Need. Supply
I've recently discovered a fabulous new website called NeedSupply, which has rocketed a few things onto my Christmas list. (Namely these boots and this necklace). To be honest, I feel like I've had such a wonderful year that presents are a moot point, but when family asks, and you need to supply (ha!) some suggestions, I would suggest a meander through this site.
*As always, I have never (sadly!) been paid or compensated for my gushing. I just like things, and share them here.

Christmas is coming
I have been so flat out since coming back and the last thing I really have time to be doing is making Christmas decorations, but it's post like these that make me want to huddle by a fire (I know, southern hemisphere fail) and craft garlands. Extreme? Maybe...

Snorkelling Photos from Fiji
When we were on our honeymoon, we met some lovely people who since shared their underwater photos with us. This is exactly what we saw in Fiji - isn't it just wonderful?

Dreamy bedroom
It could be that it's because this is a long week, but this layering of greys, and comfy looking bed makes me sleepy and happy all at once. Very Princess and the Pea, n'est-ce pas?!

2011 Diary
After having most excellent diaries for 2009 and 2010, the race is on to find a new one for 2011. Yes, I like to hunt in November - what of it?! The one above is pretty gorgeous, with a lovely hot air balloon. But the one below is in front by a whisker - who could resist the mantra "Don't you worry about a thing"? Not me!!

Celosias
I bought these little coloured plants on the weekend and potted them up. Does anyone know what they actually are?! I was so overcome with exclamations when I saw them ("Little trees! Different colours!" etc and replay) that I forgot to ask... I hope I don't kill them - this is always a risk in my house. [EDITED TO SAY: They are Celosias! Thanks Cassi - how cool are my readers?!]

Christmas Yummies
This photo made me want to drop everything and make pavlovas. I'd love to emulate this for Christmas. Mmm. Pavlova + berries = surefire happiness.

Newtown Wanderings
So I almost bought this bureau on Saturday. I had wandered into one of my favourite furniture places, and saw this little beauty - it was labelled Danish 1960s, but I couldn't really verify if that was the case. My dream is to have a bureau like this to contain all my crafty bits and pieces - it could even be a gift wrapping station with the table pulled down.
It was pretty cute, but I ended up shying away from it: really need to do some more research, as this was priced at $1100, and I couldn't tell if that was a steal or a travesty! Keep an eye out for me, will you, blogland, and let me know if you see one similar?

Open Shelves: #345
Yes, I'm back - with a post on open shelves, no less! It's been a busy few weeks settling back in after the wedding and honeymoon. Blissful, but very, very busy. The strong blacks and whites look fabulous against this tree-green, don't they? The pastels below are pretty wonderful, too. Happy week, blogland!
