Back to the Books...

Some pretty disappointing news on the lady of leisure front. I found out my PhD results on Tuesday, and I have to submit another draft. I'm a bit crushed at the moment - especially considering how surprised my supervisors are at the result, too. (And considering my feedback was always so positive... Gah!) But realise the quicker I accept the news, the less painful it might be... Anyway, so as of February I will be back working on the draft for another 3 months at the minimum. Am trying to put on a brave face, but it has knocked me around a little bit confidence-wise.

Good news is that I will be posting more regularly as I'll be back desk-side, and hoping to keep up happy news of the new apartment, life, books, stationery and more.

I'm sorry if you know me and are only finding this out on the blog. That feels very impolite and I do apologise, but I am just out of energy to re-tell the story right now. Thanks xx

  4. What a bugger. Academia works in mysterious ways. At least you got to have some fantastic thesis-free travels.

Looking forward to more blog. It's always a pleasure.

  5. What the hell? I am shocked. That seems absurd. I have read a chapter of it and it was ace. You just never know, you may have been the victim of examiner pride or posturing. But in any case, I am sure it will come out better for it, and mean less time editing for the book version (if that's the path for you).

No need to take it hard, I can give you a gazillion pieces of evidence of your extraordinariness and sparkle. But, as you say, best to put the pride aside and see it as a short task.

Long comment as close to home!

  6. I read another chapter of it and agree it was brilliant! I remain incensed at this wholly unjustifiable (interim) outcome! Luckily however, I am even more convinced of your continuing brilliance and ultimate success. Thinking of you at what I know is a tough time xxxxxxx
