I know these present-mice aren't specifically Christmas-themed, but by gosh they're very cute. Will never look at the corner sides of my presents in the same way!

Black candle wax. You guys! It's black and it's candle wax! I love this. I am not sold on the scent, but the color and design of this candle are insane.

Holiday season

I am in the middle of a whole bunch of social functions for the end of year, and even though they're all tons of fun, they do get kinda tiring. Saw this and felt it really encapsulated where I'm at :)

2014 Diary

So I realized that I needed a new notebook for 2014. I know, I'm a month early, but whatever - I thought this one was a cutie and it's going to be my pal for next year.

Well that happened fast. December seems to have come very quickly this year - I am in shock. Instead, I shall just stare meditatively at this fireplace and think happy thoughts.

Thanksgiving

I'm being a new-ish American resident and taking the rest of this week off to celebrate Thanksgiving. The American celebration of autumn is pretty fabulous - leaves are actually falling, the air is cooler, apples and pumpkins are everywhere and I am excited to make pie. (Which is happening - probably apple and lemon meringue).  Of course I can't celebrate autumn/fall without my favourite ode to decorative gourd season :)

I sort of need to stop doing anything and find where I can buy this bodysuit. Like, now. Eugh.

Muted black and white

The colour scheme in this house really reminds me of our current apartment, except the walls here are white and mine are grey. Also a really interesting coffee table - is it a table? An ottoman? Looks pretty comfy regardless.

Oh my goodness. This store. Has stopped me in its tracks. Excuse me while I go and count my pennies to see what I can afford.

Love, love, love this

Everything here is amazing. I love that white sideboard and even the Fiddle Fig's basket is pretty amazing. (I've been looking for one for our house plant, Sandra, and have yet to find the right one.) Shapes, colour and light = all amazing.

You know what? I think I may have even blogged this before I love it so much. But I don't care - I love it. It's too amazing.

Ah this pillow made me laugh. "Face noodle" is what I'm calling trunks from now on and maybe forever.

United Nude Collection 2013

I do already own an amazing pair of shoes from United Nude (kind of like these but the leather is woven not croc) but this new pair is pretty fabulous, too. The angles! The colour! Delicious.

What a beautiful print from Eric Comstock - all the buildings look so friendly and the people are so asymmetric. My kinda people.

Fruity posters

What great, modern interpretations of delicious fruit treats. I'm very mindful of the fact that we're coming into Winter over here, and these summer fruits are going to be a long way behind me.

Stacking rings

I do enjoy a good stacking ring set and this one is no exception. The fact that they look a little battered only makes them better, in my opinion.

A beautiful bag for Autumn

I recently bought a handbag that means I will no longer buy bags for a long time. But this one is pretty great - a large weekender type that just looks like it'd be your friend for a long time and keep all your secrets.

Perfect art

I've come to the conclusion that I love sculptures in homes - not just galleries. And this crinkled piece of paper/amazing sculpture is perfect. 

The Wire Project

I mean, I've only been mildly obsessed with The Wire since 2008. I don't know how many times I've watched it, start to end, but it's a lot. And I've read most of the books written by David Simon and some of the heads writers, like Richard Price. Put it this way: I'd feel pretty good about having good odds beating you on The Wire trivia. So it's no surprise that I love these posters that Alice showed me. These ones are my favorites. Oldies but goodies.

New kitchen furniture

For a while we've been wanting to get some chairs and a table for our kitchen. More bench space, somewhere to sit and chat while making dinner, generally making the large kitchen a bit more of a congregation space. We settled on these ones - I am not in love with the table, but it's a good size and the chairs fit underneath really well which was a selling point. I'll try to take photos in the kitchen but the light is not spectacular so these might have to do.

The Inner Collector

Sometimes I see a photo like this one and my inner collector roars and I think "I need to stop everything and collect candlesticks". I know I should, you know, not give up my day job, but gosh these look magnificent together!

These are now mine.

I can't even remember if I blogged about these pretties before, but they're mine now and I love them dearly. The silver thingy at the back is especially cool, and they're surprisingly comfy.

Monochromatic goodtimes

Love the woodiness and monochromatic scheme in this lounge room, but also, that lamp! I'm on a secret lamp hunt at the moment, by which I mean I occasionally decide to look at lamps online, then get indecisive and then stop looking. 

Dear Sugar

My wonderful friend AB told me to read Dear Sugar recently, and I loved it dearly. Intense but very moving. I loved this poster with all Cheryl Strayed's sayings, too - it's printed in my kitchen and I catch a little bit of wisdom every day. (You can read her letters here, too).

Stationery heaven

I like to think that all stationery deserves a good home. I mean, it's so lovely and doesn't this wall hanging look like it'd be a friendly waiting place until it was sent out into the world?
