Loft-Love

I've always thought I'd love to live in a loft. And this one looks pretty exceptional. I love that it looks interesting without being too cluttered, and coloured without being too busy.

Smith Handmade

Velvet Couch

This design shot by Lorenzo Castillo has such great use of color and texture and pattern. I feel like this would look a bit overwhelming if I tried to do it, but it's just perfect here.

Vitra Caddy

Something about Vitra products which makes me a bit swoony. This caddy is obviously overpriced, but perfectly coloured and such a great design. I'd use it for beauty supplies, craft bits-and-pieces and stationery.

Tea Forte

I've recently discovered this tea and it's completely delicious. And the tea bags come in tiny little pyramids, which is pretty awesome, too. 

Rennes: New Wallet

This was a gift from the Pal for Christmas - I have no idea why it's taken me such a long time to tell the internet about it. It's plain wonderful. Fits all my bits and pieces and is nice and flat, like a big envelope. A leathery, polka-dotted envelope. Thanks Pal. 

Bodega Bay

Spent an amazing weekend up at Bodega Bay which is my new favourite place. I couldn't capture the view from our holiday house, but light was pouring in this big window all day. Spectacular.

Perfect shoes

I bought these shoes recently and debuted them on the weekend. They are both ridiculous and amazing, probably in equal measure. They made me feel like dancing, in the best possible way.

Golden Mantle

That fiddle fig tree is wonderful. I love the green and the gold and white combination in this living room - very clean, crisp and modern. Just delicious.

Paul and Joe lipstick

I can't stop admiring the case or the weird cat face of this lipstick. I want the case a lot. I am less sure about the cat face. Kind of creepy, no?

Backpack?

I used to be fervently against backpacks. Ever since school, when I had to wear one, I've steered away from them with vigour. But this Herschel one and this stripey one are quite fun. I'm not there yet but I'll think about it!

Hanging Plants

I don't have any hooks in my ceiling, but gosh, these and these are so much fun. They'd look great if I could reach my ceilings (which I can't!) and would make sad corners so much happier. To hooks! And plants!

Egyptian Magic

Has anyone ever used this? It looks so intriguing and as if it might heal all sorts of wrongs. Would love to know more if you have.

A secret book

...which hides a poison case. Isn't that totally wonderful? From the 17th Century. Immediately I need to know more.

Poach Pods

My sister Em introduced these to me over Christmas, and I've never been so excited about silicone. As someone who likes poached eggs with a passion (but alas, cannot cook them) these are perfect cheats. Poach pods - just break the egg into them, float them on boiling water and voila!

Marimekko Stationery

Just so, so pretty. Trust Marimekko to have some deliciously graphic stationery - I've never seen it before and think it's kind of amazing.

Post Christmas Memories

Too late to show you some Christmas memories?  I was pretty sick leading up to Christmas and spent much of it having naps and trying to dose myself with vitamins. But these photos really sum up the feeling of cosiness and happiness to have my family in town. (Photo credits to my sister Bec and The Pal).

Beautiful door

As a lover of doors, this one struck me as pretty extraordinary. The colours! The detail! The fact that it sort of looks like giraffe necks! Perfect.

Nick Cave's notebook

As a list-maker and list-lover, I just adore this page out of Nick Cave's notebook. It is a list, it has words and it looks so well-loved and used. I'm making lots of lists at this time of year - not really different from other times of the year!  - but these ones are all about life goals and what I want to achieve and contribute to this year. It feels exciting.

Happy 2013!

Ah it feels good, this beginning of a New Year. I had a wonderful Chrissy with my family all around me - it felt so special to have a Christmas away from our home, all together.

I'm busy thinking about the year ahead - what will happen, what I should aim for, prioritize. A wonderful sense of possibility.
