Some news!

So I have some big news to share. The Pal and I are moving to San Francisco! Today is my last day at work in Sydney, and in a week, we head over to the US.

I am so incredibly excited, but also like it's all a bit surreal: it feels really odd to think about it, and of course, there's a hundred things on the to-do list, too.

One of the fun things about moving is that we've sold all of our furniture and we'll be buying new things over there, so I'll be sharing how we fit out our new apartment, and settle in to a new city. Looking forward to some new adventures!

Sarah Bagshaw prints

This is such a stunning print - the shapes and the colours are just perfect. Want to hang it above a beautiful, low grey couch.

Wooden inspiration

Gosh - the chairs and the prints and the wood - so stunning. As I get older, I am more and more drawn to wooden furniture and this room feels so warm. (Sorry - I can't remember where I found this - let me know if you know where I did!)

Furoshiki Love

One of the things I love about Japan is the attitude towards thrift, care and re-use. Furoshiki are Japanese pieces of cloth used to store and carry things, and they are just so lovely.

Why hello little table! Aren't you adorable? Oh yes. Just adorable.

Lotta Kuhlhorn Japan Collection

Ooh la la. I saw this collection when I was in Japan, and fell in love with it. Especially the little glass balloons on the left hand side of the photo above. They had rounded bottoms and would rock gently and then balance when you put them on the table. Can't seem to find them outside of Japan - super delightful.

Sea Ranch, California

This cabin in the woods is pretty extraordinary. It's a ranch in California and it looks like heaven - the wood and the greenery are superb.

Beautiful desk organiser

Well isn't this one a beauty? A bright red and shiny desk organiser. Oooh it's a beauty.

Lotta Kuhlhorn: Book covers

Love these series of book covers by the very excellent Swedish designer Lotta Kuhlhorn - just beautifully designed and arranged.

Leather compendium

Ooh this compendium is all sorts of fantastic. A delightful little office companion. A companion-compendium. A compadium? Sold!

Best bookcase ever

Well isn't this charming? I love this idea that the script would be less legible with the books actually in the bookcase. So, so good.

Plants in Japan

I was so enamoured with all the plants in pots outside hundreds of houses and shops in Japan. Small collections of pretty gardens, perched on the edge of window sills and footpaths, clump together to form tiny landscapes of green. Just perfect.

Georgia Gray

These beautiful acrylics are made by Georgia Gray and they almost look like tapestries to me - love the colour blocking and the composition.

Best cabinet

Oh one day, I will fine a cabinet like this. Or some drawers. Or some industrial cuties that want to come home with me and nest.

Up print

A really, incredibly sweet print from the incredibly sweet movie, Up. Just perfect.

Roses in vases

Yes, I know, these are excellent. What is it about flowers in individual vases? It's too, too sweet.

Temples in Japan

I truly had no idea how stunning these would be, but we went on a Temple bender in Kyoto, visiting old towns and temples and shrines for three days. The most superb gardens, simplicity and precision I've ever seen: you must go if you like any of these things! (And these photos don't capture the bright greens and the crisp air - but close your eyes and try to imagine).

Not sure I'll ever get over my love of triangles and geometric shapes. These ones are delicious.

Totoro postcard

Such a lovely idea - Hayao Miyazaki films made into a set of postcards, including my very favourite My Neightbour Totoro.

Dream apartment

Thanks to my friend C for the tip-off for this beautiful apartment.  Peaceful to the extreme and a secret ladder and hiding place, to boot!

Lamp landscape

This certainly makes the problem of cords more of an opportunity! Love the design and that lamp is too great in yellow.
