One of the schools where I coach has the most beautiful, old Jacaranda tree. It's incredibly majestic, even when not in flower. I snapped this shot really quickly one evening and was amazed at the deep greens and the contrast of the dark bricks and stony footpath.

ReplyDeleteHey Kate... I recognise this tree from when I was little! But could be wrong... Does it happen to be at a school where they wear black swatch tartan in the winter? If it is the same school we celebrated the tree's 100 year birthday when I was about 8... we had a big photo in front of it!

Ah the memories! An old man in denim overalls took the photo from a red cherry-picker and we got out of class for 2 whole hours! I have a soft spot for that tree!
ReplyDeleteoh lord what have they done to the jacaranda tree?!!! It used to just have plain lawn beneath it.
ReplyDeleteDoes the school still worship it? We used to have jacaranda day and had to wear purple ribbons and sing a song specially composed about the tree. Appealingly pagan.
