Map landscape

So this has raised the bar. Matthew Cusick's map collages are absolutely stunning - I love the movement and the depth in this one - so beautiful.

Map Skirt

My friend Sophie sent me a link to this skirt in an email last night with the line, "Kate, this has to be the you-est skirt around!" and I have to agree. So, so perfect.

Yes, of course it's out of stock at the moment, but this map dress is kind of perfect in every way. I love you, map dress. Please come and live with me and be happy forever?

Industrial Chic

Oooh delicious industrial things in houses. A trend of which I will never tire. I would give up most of my possessions to own those printers trays. Ok. All my possessions.

Comfy Corners

The combinations of these little drawers and maps is awesome. Just plain old awesome. (And that brown satchel below isn't half shabby, either).

A long time map lover, I am enjoying this exceptional series called The Beauty of Maps on the BBC. You can watch them here, and they really are extraordinary.

Alice was kind enough to send these map beauties my way: and what beauties they are! Just adore the way the faces come alive through the map.

Map Onesies

How lovely are these map onesies? I don't have a newly born baby (who's out in the world - hint, pregnant lady friend!) to buy these for yet, but think they're adorable.

Mapping Old Ireland

The lovely Ali sent me this link to some maps of old Ireland, and I think they are superb.

By the way (and this doesn't have too much to do with maps), I just wanted to say thank you to my friends who read this. I've been in the last stages of writing my thesis for some months now, with a deadline that keeps extending. You have understood my canceling dinner dates and generally being quite crazy, and you still send little treats my way and letters/emails/calls of encouragement. It means the world (geddit?) to me, and I couldn't do it without you. xxx

Updated Map Notebooks

I have updated the map notebooks I'm selling in my shop. I was thinking late at night while trying to get to sleep, that I'd love a notebook which I could add and subtract pages to when I felt like it.

Enter these miracle file fasteners which hold the pages tight when you need them, yet can open up to allow more pages when you need them, too. Genius!

Liz Eeuwes: Rugs

I know, I know, maps on textiles may have you all a bit exhausted, but I am only hitting my stride! These rugs by Liz Eeuwes are inspired by different landscapes. The one above is called Strathmore and inspired by the Scottish countryside.
This one's inspired by brightly coloured tulip fields and the one below is inspired by rice paddy terraces in Bali. I think it's my favourite.
