It was my Dad's 50th not long ago, and my parents threw a party up at the Blue Mountains to celebrate last weekend. Thought I'd show you a few photos of the set-up - it looked incredibly beautiful in the misty, cool mountains.
My grandparents have owned a holiday property up there for over forty years, and we've all spent time there on countless family trips, bringing in wood for the fire, playing tennis, and climbing trees.
The marquee was set up on the old clay tennis court, and on the left, you can see the rollers that were originally used to keep the surface smooth. In summer, the fence is covered with crawling sweet pea vines in bright pinks and purples.
Inside looked incredible, with small tables set up all in black and white. The theme on the night was 'black tie with a twist' , which was variously interpreted as you can imagine!
Voila my sisters and I! Mum hired a face painter to brighten people's faces a bit - Beck had a butterfly, Em had flowers and I had a sort of Indian-Bollywood decoration - all chosen by the face painter herself. And yes, I am the oldest and shortest of the three! All in all, I think Mum and Dad had a wonderful night.
These are some pictures of the garden itself - isn't it swoony?
This is also dedicated to Em who turns 20 tomorrow - see you Monday!
